March North
Martyn has lived in March for the past 4 years and has been a resident of Cambridgeshire for the past 7 years.
Martyn is an advocate for sustainable travel and infrastructure. As a daily commuter to Cambridge, he is keenly aware of the need to improve local infrastructure to facilitate sustainable travel.
The roads around March are not conducive to getting more people out on bicycles and greater emphasis needs to be placed on encouraging people to walk, cycle or use public transport where they can.
As a keen cyclist, he recognises the health benefits of travelling sustainably too and how encouraging more to use their cars less, we could reduce the burden on local medical services.
Working as a health and safety professional, he is experienced at working pragmatically with others to find sensible, proportionate solutions to problems and this is a skill that he can bring to help make March a better place for all.

George is the founder of a charity that serves free hot meals to anyone in the local area who
needs them. He works at a local law firm and is studying to become a lawyer, but his passion
is helping his community to support its most vulnerable members.
George says: “The District Council needs to do more for the local community in this cost of
living crisis. We need affordable housing and decent public transport. We need fair funding
to local authorities and Councillors who will stand up for their community.”
Hannah is from the town of March and has lived here for most of her life. Her grandfather,
Henry Orbell, was a Labour councillor for many years and Hannah continues to hold dear
the same values as he did – the need for fairness, equality and a voice for all.
Through her work as a primary school teacher in Fenland, Hannah has seen the need for
greater opportunities for young people and is committed to helping families in the local area.
At a time when so many in the community are being hit hard by the cost of living crisis, she
wants to help make a difference.
Another key concern of Hannah’s is environmental issues. Changes have to happen now in
order to safeguard the world that our future generations will live in. Working together as a
community is the best hope we have of achieving this.
Hannah says, “Labour care about hard-working families, which is why I promise to listen to
residents about the local issues faced by them and their families.”
