North East Cambs Labour The official website of the North East Cambridgeshire Constituency Labour Party
Get involved
There’s lots to do! Getting involved includes campaigning, debating and influencing policy, raising funds for elections and other activity, and meeting other people interested in politics – local and beyond.
Most important of all, we have lots of campaigning events. These include delivering leaflets, knocking on doors, and meeting in a town centre to chat to members of the public or get signatures for a petition. You don’t need to be a member of the Labour Party to get involved, but if you do want to, you can do it online here.
What does joining the Labour Party mean?
Across the country, our members are the beating heart of the Labour Party. We’re excited to welcome new members and hugely thankful for the contribution of long-standing members.
As a member of the Labour Party, you will get a say on our policy (especially through the annual National Policy Forum consultations, but also through regional and national conferences) and you will get a chance to vote for the National Executive Committee that runs the Labour Party, and – whenever there is an election – the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.
In North-East Cambridgeshire Labour Party there is a place for every member. Once you join, you can attend our monthly All Member Meetings, where we discuss and debate ideas and come up with new strategies and priorities for the Party locally, as well as passing on ideas to the Party regionally and nationally. New members are always very welcome at meetings – we also run campaign meetings in your local area, so they are a great place to start!
But it’s not just meetings. We hold frequent social events, which are a wonderful way to get to know people, especially if you’re feeling a little shy about coming to meetings! These are usually open to all, so you are welcome to bring along family and friends too. Social events that we’ve had recently include meals, quizzes, BBQs and movie showings – let us know if you have an idea you’d like to try out!
Of course, members are at the heart of our campaigning work. There are lots of different tasks to do to suit members with different levels of confidence, and if it’s your first time there will always be a friendly face to show you the ropes! We also help out or work with other campaigns for local services, as well as promoting the Labour Party – if you have a cause you think we should be campaigning on, please bring it to the next meeting, or contact the Labour Party Fenland Team (more about them here) through the Contact Us page on this website.
Lastly, you can also interact with other members via social media. For Members and Affiliated Supporters, we have a Facebook Group, North East Cambs Labour Members. This is the place where you can chat with other members, share things of interest, debate new ideas and organise events.
You can also follow our public Facebook page, which is where we promote our party and engage in discussion with members of the public – we’re also on Instagram and X
We have a members’ WhatsApp community and groups for our committee members and local campaign groups
Your likes, comments and support are very much appreciated!
We appreciate any way you’re able to get involved, and would love to see you at our next event! Check out the Events page to see what’s happening soon, and look out for emails from us.
We operate our meetings based on a set of standing orders that you can read here.
